8 Getting There & Away
AIR
Connellan airport is about 4km north of Yulara. Qantas ( 13 13 13; www.qantas.com.au )
has direct flights from Alice Springs, Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide and Sydney. Virgin
Australia (
13 67 89; www.virginaustralia.com ) has daily flights from Sydney.
BUS
Daily shuttle connections (listed as mini tours) between Alice Springs and Yulara are run
by AAT Kings ( 1300 556 100; www.aatkings.com ) and cost adult/child $150/75. Emu
Run ( Click here ) runs the cheapest daily connections between Alice Springs and Uluru
($215/108).
CAR & MOTORCYCLE
One route from Alice to Yulara is sealed all the way, with regular food and petrol stops.
It's 200km from Alice to Erldunda on the Stuart Hwy, where you turn west for the
245km journey along the Lasseter Hwy. The journey takes four to five hours.
Renting a car in Alice Springs to go to Uluru and back is a reasonably priced option if
you make the trip in a group.
