Heading West
A lonely sign at the western end of Kata Tjuta points in the direction of WA. If suitably
equipped you can travel the 181km to Kaltukatjara (Docker River), an Aboriginal settle-
ment to the west, and then about 1500km on to Kalgoorlie in WA. You need a permit
from the Central Land Council for this trip.

world's least hospitable regions into a comfortable place to stay. Lying just outside the
