Across the Todd River from town, this is a 'non-party' hostel where you
can relax around the pool, puff on a didge, or lie in a hammock in the garden. Rooms in
the dongas are a bit of a squeeze, and those in the house are simple, comfortable and
clean.

Toddy's is a
rambling place with a huge variety of rooms from dorms and budget doubles to a motel
section. Toddy's is popular with groups and there's a party atmosphere, spurred on by the
$8 meals and cheap jugs of beer at the outdoor bar every evening. Although there are
plenty of beds, the motel-style rooms can be hard to get, so book ahead. Tariff includes a
light breakfast.

With its leafy beer garden, popular with travellers and locals, and great
poolside area, Annie's is a lively place to hang out any night of the week. This is only a
problem if you actually enjoy sleeping. The converted motel rooms (all with bathrooms
and some with a fridge) are right on top of the bar and the new management should be on
top of the old cleanliness issues.

At the foot of the Ranges and dotted with
eucalypts and bounding rock wallabies, Heavitree makes a shady place to pitch or park.
Alternatively, there are rooms: four-bed dorms, lodge and very basic kitchenette rooms
that sleep six. The lodge offers a free shuttle into the town centre, which is about 4km
away. The neighbouring tavern has live country music most nights of the week.
