Presiding over a tranquil patch of parkland, Frogshol-
low is a chilled-out backpackers' choice. A relaxed Euro crew basks by the pool or kicks
back in the park across the road. Afternoon balconies drip with pot-plant overflows as
dorm-dwellers mooch around the kitchen. Some rooms have air-con; most have fans.
Dorms can be a bit cramped.

Howl at the moon at the Dingo, a great addition to the Darwin
hostel scene. It's a two-building affair with 65 beds - big enough to be sociable but not
rowdy. A highlight is the pool, sparkling underneath a massive frangipani tree, and a
great outdoor kitchen. No TV room − have a conversation instead.

The highlight at this busy backpackers is the rooftop island bar and pool
area overlooking Mitchell St − complete with waterfall spa and big-screen TV. Party
heaven! The modern hostel is immaculate but a little sterile, with stark white walls and
sparse rooms. Facilities are A1 though and it's very secure. The 3rd floor is female only.
Chilli's

Friendly Chilli's is a funky place with a small sundeck and spa
(use the pool next door). There's also a pool table and a breezy kitchen/meals terrace
overlooking Mitchell St. Rooms are compact but clean.
Darwin YHA

The
Darwin YHA is in a converted motel, so all 34 rooms (including dorms) have en suites,
and they're built around a decent pool. The kitchen and TV room are tiny, but next door
Globetrotters Bar has cheap meals and entertainment.
