1883, the Metropolitan pub is still looking pretty. Its 26 rooms upstairs feature stripy lin-
en, high ceilings, little flat-screen TVs and various bedding configurations. 'It used to be
quite an experience staying here...' says the barman, raising his eyebrows. We're not sure
what he meant, but these days you can expect a decent budget sleep in a beaut city loca-
