Electron microscope
An electron microscope is the modern variant of microscope. It uses
a beam of electrons to illuminate a specimen and produce a magnified
image. An electron microscope has greater resolving power than a light-
powered optical microscope because electrons have wavelengths about
100,000 times shorter than visible light (photons). Magnifications of up to
about 10,000,000
can be achieved through these microscopes. Electron
microscopes are used to observe a wide range of biological and inorganic
specimens including microorganisms, cells, large molecules, biopsy
samples, metals, and crystals. Industrially, the electron microscope is often
used for quality control and failure analysis. As such these are used in all
types of research activities. Electron microscope may be (1) transmission
microscope (TEM), (2) scanning electron microscope,
(3) reflection electron microscope, (4) scanning transmission electron
microscope, and (5) low-voltage electron microscope
