(b) Variations in global mean sea level (differences from the mean, 1993 to mid-2001)
computed from satellite altimetry from August 1992 to August 2012, averaged over
65°S to 65°N. Symbols are ten-day estimates from three different satellites (green,
blue and orange). The Jason-2 altimeter mission was launched in June 2008,
extending the record of precise altimetry initiated by the TOPEX/Poseidon (T/P) mis-
sion (August 1992) and later extended by the Jason-1 mission (December 2001).
