In-Depth Information
Pre-combustion carbon capture
Process in which gasses are separated before the combustion pro-
cesses, which makes the separation of CO 2 after the combustion
easier.
Pressure swing adsorption
Adsorption or absorption process where one uses a pressure swing:
adsorption at high pressure and desorption at low pressure to achieve a
separation.
See also temperature swing adsorption.
Radiative forcing
A measure of how the energy balance of the earth-atmosphere system is
infl uenced when factors that affect climate are altered, given as the
measured rate of energy change per unit area (in W/m 2 ) of the globe.
Relative permeability
The relative permeability K ij of phase i in the presence of phase j , is
defi ned as the effective permeability divided by the single phase
permeability.
Residual phase trapping
See capillary trapping.
Residual saturation
The lowest point of saturation: because of the capillary forces not all gas-
ses can be removed, giving a residual or irreversible saturation.
See also irreducible saturation.
Residual trapping
See capillary trapping.
