Irish Gaelic doesn't use the letters
j, k, q, x,
or
z.
And there's no “th” sound—which you
can hear today when an Irish person says something like “turdy-tree” (33). There is also no
equivalent of the simple words “yes” or “no.” Instead, answers are given in the affirmat-
