“you take half a loaf when you can get it” town. Rates vary with the view and sea-
son—probe for softness. Many listings face the sea, though sea views are worth paying
for only if you get a bay window. Ask for a big room (some doubles can be very small;
twins are bigger). Lounges are invariably grand and have bay-window views. All places
listed have lots of stairs, but most are perfectly central and within a few minutes' walk of
the train station. Parking is easy.
