In-Depth Information
The Northern Irish have a good sense of humor and a long memory. Commercial pilots
joke to their arriving passengers to set their watches to local time: 1690 (the year of the
famous Battle of the Boyne).
About half of the people in Northern Ireland attend church weekly—significantly more
than in the Republic (30 percent) or the rest of the UK (15 percent). Only in Northern Ire-
land can a union between a Christian man and woman ofthe same ethnicity and nationality
be considered a “mixed marriage.”
