In-Depth Information
Electricity
On Aruba, electricity operates at 110 volts/60 cycles,
while on Bonaire and CuraƧao the electricity oper-
ates at 110-130 volts/50 cycles. This doesn't pose a prob-
lem for most US- or Canadian-made small appliances, but
European- and South American-made products that op-
erate at 220 volts will require a voltage converter and a
plug adapter.
Travelers are advised to use a surge protector for sensitive equipment,
such as computers, and to be cautious about allowing equipment to over-
heat. Appliances with internal timers may not keep the correct time, and
dive equipment, such as strobes, should be charged at the regulated out-
lets available at dive shops.
TIP: See pictures of various international plugs
and find voltage information by country online at
www.franzus.com.

Water from outdoor taps is meant for irrigation, not drinking.
