Clearing Customs
Foreign-made personal items that are taken out of the US are subject to
duty each time they are brought back into the country. You can avoid this
expense and inconvenience by registering watches, cameras, and other
expensive articles that shout “foreign” with the Customs Office before you
leave the US. You may also carry the dated sales receipt, insurance policy,
or jeweler's appraisal to prove prior possession. Find the nearest Customs

Entering the ABCs
The ABCs are not Holland, and you'll be in serious trouble if you try to
enter with illegal drugs, including marijuana. Possessing even a small
amount of these substances will land you in jail and cost you more than
you'll want to pay to get out.
If you take prescription medications, carry them in the original labeled
container, and if they contain narcotics, get a note from your doctor or
carry a copy of the prescription.
Visitors who are 18 years old or older may bring in two liters of liquor, 200
cigarettes, 50 cigars, and 250 grams of tobacco. You probably will not be
questioned about specific items that you're bringing into the islands, but
Customs officials have the right to look through your bags and ask about
unusual articles or large quantities of items. They may also charge duty,
between 7% and 22%, on goods valued at more than $250. Plants must
have a disease-free certificate, and no meat products or birds (living or
dead) are allowed.
TIP: Save the immigration card that you receive on
arrival in the islands. You will be asked to return it
to officials when you depart.
For additional or updated information on entry requirements and limits
on length of stay, contact Aruba's Department of Immigration,
297-582-
8946.
Duty-Free Allowances
Make your trip through Customs quick and hassle-free by packing all
items that you bought on the islands together in the same bag and having
all receipts readily available for Customs officials. Remember that you
must declare everything that was given to you as a gift as well as every-
thing that you bought. If you had merchandise shipped home, you must
declare the item when you go through Customs.
