In-Depth Information
Start your evening at one of the many happy hours held at bars, casinos,
and restaurants throughout Willemstad. Then move on to dinner at one of
more than 100 restaurants. (Make a reservation to insure a table during
prime dinner hours.) Most kitchens close around 10 pm, even if the restau-
rant stays open later, so don't count on eating fashionably late.
Casinos
Casinos open at around 2 pm and go strong until early morn-
ing. The largest are located at major resorts, such as the
Howard Johnson Plaza (
462-7800), the Marriott
(
736-8800), Holiday Beach (
462-5400), and the Hilton
462-5000). All have slot and video machines, as well as
poker, black jack, and roulette tables. Some, such as the Holiday Beach
(
(
462-5400), take bets on sports events.
Resort Bars & Music
Resorts also offer a variety of bars, lounges, and dance clubs.
Locals tend to hang out at beach bars with live bands or DJs,
such as Rumours at Lions Dive Inn (
461-7555) and Blues
at Avila Beach Hotel (
461-4377). Locals like to party on the
beach at such places as Mambo (
461-8999), and the
adjoining Wet & Wild on Seaquarium Beach (
465-3464) and Baya
Beach Club on Caracas Bay (
747-0777).

4640), a place to dress up and mix with upscale residents of
all ages; Olé Olé (

music; The Music Factory (TMF), the can't-be-missed purple building
that features some type of music every night except Sunday (
461-0631).
TIP: Call the clubs and bars for exact directions.
If you want to get inside one of the old plantation houses, make reserva-
tions for dinner at Landhuis Granbeeuw (

in Santa Rosa, northeast of Willemstad. The three-course meal is well
priced and served on the patio. Afterwards, stay on for live music and
