Bars & Nightclubs
In addition to the resorts, which tend to sponsor rum-punch
or theme-night parties on a rotating basis most nights of the
week, the following hot spots often feature music, dancing,
and live entertainment:
City Café , a casual hangout open nightly until 2 am with
happy hour running from 5:30 until 6:30 pm, usually has live entertain-
ment on weekends. It's on the waterfront side of Hotel Rochaline across
from the Venezuelan fruit market in Kralendijk, 717-8286.

Fantasy Disco's large dance floor is packed from Wednesday (Ladies'
Night) through Saturday nights between opening at 10 pm and closing at
5 am. Weekends feature live music beginning around 11 pm. It's located on
the upper level of the Stephany Shopping Mall on Kaya L.D. Gerharts in
Kralendijk,

Karel's Beach Bar is an island landmark that's open until 2 pm nightly.
Look for the Tiki hut-style building sitting on stilts at the end of a pier on
Kralendijk's waterfront, across from ZeeZicht Restaurant. It's well known
for upbeat island music and live weekend entertainment. Happy hour
includes bar snacks from 5:30 until 7 pm. 717-8434.

Mona Lisa is a Dutch bar located in a yellow island-style building with
red doors on Kaya Grandi in the middle of town. This is a nice place to stop
for a drink between 4 pm and 2 am, but don't plan to visit on Saturday or
Sunday - it's closed. The highlight here is beer. They have a long interna-
tional list, and Hans, the friendly bartender who is also one of the owners,
will guide you to exactly the right brew. 717-8718.

Casinos
If you're feeling lucky, head for one of Bonaire's two casinos.
The Plaza Resort Casino sparkles with bright lights and
buzzes with action. A hallway of slot machines leads to the
gaming room, where guests try their hand at blackjack, rou-
lette, and poker. Dress is smart casual; no shorts after sun-
set. Play begins at the slot machines at 4 pm, game tables open at 8 pm,
and the bar closes at 4 am, 717-2450.

Divi Flamingo Casino is the recently renovated centerpiece at the Fla-
mingo Beach Resort. Known as the barefoot casino, the entire building has
been redesigned with lovely landscaped grounds, an open-air bar, and an
expanded gaming room with blackjack, roulette, poker, wheel of fortune,
video games, and slot machines. The casual casino is open Monday
through Saturday from 6 pm until 2 am, 717-8285.
