Grandi 32B. Also, gold is sold by weight and there's a fine selection of silver
jewelry, watches, and crystal. Marine subjects dominate the gift items,
home decorations, and children's things at Best Buddies (

next door at Kaya Grandi 32. Best Buddies at the Beach (
717-8285) is
located on the grounds of the Divi Flamingo Resort and carries tropical
clothing for the whole family, sea-theme jewelry, and mini-market goodies.

TIP: Valerie's Airport Shop (
717-5324) stocks
T-shirts, chocolates, and souvenirs. This is the place
to spend your remaining guilders before you board
the plane for home.
Maharaj Gifthouse , #21 Kaya Grande (
717-4402) is an exquisite little
shop with an impressive selection of Dutch Delft porcelain, crystal, and
jewelry. It's one of the most charming stores on the island.
For island fashions, head to Kaya Grandi , behind City Café, where three
brightly painted shops sell batik-fabric dresses, T-shirts, shorts, and hats.
Chez Claudette (
717-8571), at #14, has items hanging outside, and
you will be tempted by colorful $18 dresses and $9 skirts. Island Fash-
ions (
717-7565), across the street at #5 in an historic house, has a large
selection of locally made gift items, as well as batik clothing, T-shirts,
unusual island jewelry. Boutique Vita (
717-8438), at #16, has an ador-
able life-size island-woman doll sitting in a rocker on the porch. When you
stop to admire her, you'll be drawn to the well-priced clothes hanging
nearby. The wrap skirts are terrific swimsuit coverups.
