The views are terrific from this hilltop location at the California Light-
house on the island's northwest tip. You can get lunch, snacks, and drinks
here when you tour this end of the island, but plan to return for dinner.
Arrive in time to enjoy sunset from the terrace. It's spectacular. Ossobuco,
filet mignon, and traditional Italian pasta dishes appear on the menu.

Oh, life is good when you have sea views, broken only by rolling golf-course
greens and a historic lighthouse, and fresh food, improved by fine herbs
and lightly seasoned sauces. Ask for an outdoor table. You won't find a
more elegantly romantic spot on the island. Call early to ask when the jazz
trio will be performing, and try to book a table during that time.

Don't miss this totally Aruban experience. More bar than restaurant, the
funky interior is decorated with more than 60 years of memorabilia col-
lected from customers by Charlie, the Dutch sailor who opened the
hangout in 1941, and his son, Charles Brouns III (just call him Charlie),
the current proprietor. The food is good, but not worth a special trip from
the hotel district. Stop in for lunch or a snack and ice-cold beer when you
