RUINAS DEL MAR
Hyatt Regency Aruba Resort
297-586-1234
Continental & seafood
$$$
Daily, 5:30-10:30 pm; Sunday brunch, 9 am-2 pm
Reservations requested during high season, recommended otherwise
Atmosphere is the main lure, but the food is as good (and as expensive) as
you would expect it to be at a Hyatt. Ask to sit outside on the faux stone-
ruin terrace overlooking the lagoon and sea. The breakfast buffet is exten-
sive, and will keep you sufficiently full through most of the day. The dinner
menu includes mixed seafood grill and a surf-and-turf with lobster.
Sunday brunch is an island tradition that just got better with the arrival of
Chef Miguel Garcia, who likes guests to linger over his decadent dishes
and made-to-order creations.
SUNSET GRILLE
Radisson Aruba Resort
297-586-6555
Seafood & steakhouse
$$$
Daily, 6-11 pm; Sunday brunch, 11 am-
2:30 pm
Reservations recommended
Among the resort restaurants, this one
stands out because of its cosmopolitan
cuisine, typical of that found in New
York City or San Francisco. The steaks
are huge, seafood is right from the sea
(try the pan-seared ruby red sushi-
grade Ahi tuna), the wine list is
impressive, and the fabulous desserts
from the in-house bakery are large
enough to share. More than 90 selec-
tions are listed on the wine list, which
recently earned an “Award of Excel-
lence” from Wine Spectator magazine.
