Horseback Riding
Aruba's outback lends itself to exploration on horseback.
Choose early morning or sunset rides for the coolest breezes
and most active wildlife. Several stables arrange group rides
along the wild east coast, along beaches, and over inland ter-
rain that cannot be covered by car.
Wear a hat, sunglasses, knee-length or longer pants, and sunscreen. If you
want to ride in shorts or swimsuit, bring a thick beach towel to protect the
front of your legs from sunburn, and the back of your legs from saddle
sores.
Rates vary depending on length and destination, but you'll pay about $45
for a two-hour group ride and $60 for a private two-hour tour.

With only a dozen horses, this ranch offers nothing but small-group and
private rides. Look for their sign on the main road leading to the Boca
Andicuri Natural Bridge.

They say this is the home of happy horses, and it would appear that Al
Capone, Jesse James, Evita, and friends are thriving and pleased to be of
service. Every horse is well groomed, easy to handle, and a pleasure to
ride. Various 2½- to three-hour tours leave mornings and afternoons for
rides into the outback, over to Malmok Beach, and up to Alto Vista Chapel.
The sunset rides are especially popular. Call to arrange pick-up at your
hotel.
