standard adapted to display systems. Digital single lens reflex cameras (DSLRs) often sup-
port Adobe RGB, which has a wider color gamut from green to blue, as well as sRGB.
Whereas the dynamic range of each color before conversion is 10-16 bit, they should be
compressed to 8 bit in sRGB. On that account, color and tone are converted using a nonlin-
ear operation called gamma correction.
8.2.6 Noise Reduction
While correlated noise is efficiently removed by CDS, noises with no correlation or less
frequency dependence are reduced by averaging on spatial or temporal axes. Examples of
noise reduction by DSP are shown in Figure 8.9.
