LUANG PRABANG ACTIVITIES AND TOURS
Luang Prabang boasts a mind-boggling array of travel agents and tour operators, particu-
larly on Sisavangvong Road, many offering identical trips in and around the city (and fur-
ther afield). The swift rivers, pretty rural areas and impressive mountains around Luang
Prabang afford countless opportunities for adventure sports, including whitewater rafting,
mountain biking, kayaking, zip-lining and trekking; many travel agents offer options to
combine these with a trip to an elephant sanctuary. In addition, several operators offer boat
tours, which usually work out more expensive, but less hassle than organizing them your-
self ad hoc at the boat landings.
Enquiries for tours can be made through your guesthouse or one of the tour agents listed
here, though it pays to shop around - and make sure you know exactly what you're paying
for when you sign up. Walk-in rates are usually slightly lower than those quoted online,
and prices usually depend on the number of people in the group.
