• SAP developed its own Java SE 5-compliant JVM, referred to as SAP JVM.
Let us now study the SAP cluster architecture in NW 7.1, with an emphasis on the new
improvements for making SAP NW AS Java more robust.
SAP Java Cluster Architecture in NW 7.1
In NW 7.1, the following changes were implemented by SAP:
• The SAP Java dispatcher has been replaced by Internet Communication Manager
(ICM).
• SDM is no longer available.
• The fast channel architecture was introduced.
• Standard JVM has been replaced with SAP JVM.
Figure 3-4
shows the new Java cluster architecture in NW 7.1. The central services in-
stance is not changed and provides the message and enqueue services to the Java cluster.
