SAP processes at the operating system level
Now that we have looked into starting the SAP system and verifying its proper function-
ing, let us look into the user logon process and navigation aspects of the system.
Login Process to the SAP System
SAPGUI is installed on the desktops or laptops of the business users using the SAPGUI in-
stallation CD. The installation will create a SAP logon icon, shown below, as a shortcut on
the desktop. Double-click the SAP logon program, and enter the application server informa-
tion for the SAP system to which you would like to connect.

Double-clicking the SAP logon icon will open the following window. You can create a
new connection to the SAP application server by clicking the New Item button (shown in
the following illustration) and then clicking the next button in the subsequent screen.
