Upgrade Key Planning Steps
The key planning steps for the upgrade are listed here. The complete list of planning steps
must be obtained from the upgrade guide.
• Download the upgrade software.
• Download the upgrade guides (upgrade master guide, technical upgrade guide, and up-
grade OSS Notes).
• Download the target release support packages and any add-ons.
• Download the JCE policy file.
• Allocate 25GB of disk space for the upgrade directory where all the logs and upgrade
information are written. Ensure that the allocated space is local and is not NFS-moun-
ted. Using NFS-mounted space may cause the upgrade to run slower.
• Extend the file systems to meet target release needs.
• Generate a Solution Manager key.
• Obtain the upgrade keyword.
• Decide on the upgrade strategy.
• Decide on the backup and recovery strategies during upgrades.
• Prepare any operating system and database-specific pre-requisites.
Upgrade Execution
Upgrade GUI helps in executing the eight roadmap steps. The following figures and illustra-
tions demonstrate each of the upgrade roadmap steps.
Figure 25-2
shows execution of the initialization roadmap step during an upgrade pro-
cess.
