VMC architecture
Activating the VMC requires significant memory and swap space resources. Make sure
that you have adequate system resources before activating the VMC; otherwise, the system
may not start properly. OSS Notes 854170 and 863354 provide more details for activating
the VMC and performing administration activities with it.
SAP also provides the following two transactions for administering the VMC:
• Transaction code SM52 provides an overview of configured Java VMC.
• Transaction code SM53 provides system administration of the Java VMC.
Data Flow in a Typical NW AS ABAP System for Browser Requests
For the browser-based end-user requests, the data flow is a little different. For browser-
based requests, SAP NW AS ABAP can act as a web server or a web client. As a web server
it can accept the incoming Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP), Hypertext Transfer Pro-
