Monitoring with Solution Manager
Central monitoring is the most commonly used Solution Manager component. In this section
we will go into the details of the central monitoring architecture and setting up of the agents
in the satellite SAP systems.
Availability Monitoring
Availability monitoring, as the name implies, helps to monitor the availability of the SAP
systems and sends an e-mail alert to the infrastructure team if any server is down. This will
help the infrastructure team respond to the situation quickly, and they do not have to manu-
ally monitor the system availability. The CCMSPING agent is used for availability monitor-
ing.
CCMSPING
CCMSPING is installed in the central monitoring system. It queries the message server of
the configured SAP systems in the SAP Landscape and sends an alert if any system is not
available.
Register the CCMS Agents
Download CCMSPING from the SAP Service Marketplace and register it in the central
monitoring system using the following command:
where DK1 is the SID and venus is the hostname.
The following command is used to check if the CCMSPING agent is running on the cent-
ral monitoring system:
Configuration of the CCMSPING
The following steps should be performed to configure the CCMSPING in the central monit-
oring system.
1. Edit the /etc/services file with all the message servers in all systems that will be part of
availability monitoring.
