SAP Five-System-Landscapes (N and N+1 Architecture)
The SAP five-System-Landscape is referred to as N and N+1 architecture, where N indic-
ates the current release in the production system and N+1 is the new release development.
Figure 13-1 shows the typical five-System-Landscape and the flow of transports.

Five-System-Landscapes have a production support path and a new release development
path. In the previous example PSS | PSQ | PRD shows the production support path and DEV
| QAS shows the new release development path. The following steps explain the detailed
flow of activities in setting up a five-System-Landscape:
1.Afterthefirstreleasegoesliveandtheproductionenvironmentisstabilized,atransport
freeze is established and a database copy is performed from DEV (new release devel-
opment system) to PSS (production support development system).
