SAP Central CTS
SAP landscapes are becoming more complex and managing change and software logistics is
becoming more challenging. With the goal of further improving the software logistics in
complex SAP landscapes, SAP is working on a concept called central CTS. This tool is in-
tended to provide an easy means of configuring change management right in the CTS archi-
tecture. This will simplify the software logistics of heterogeneous landscapes and makes
managing change more effective. A link to a detailed whitepaper for central CTS is
provided in the “Additional Resources” section of this chapter.
Summary
• Java development is supported by SAP with NetWeaver Development Infrastructure
(NWDI).
• Installation of SAP usage type Development Infrastructure (DI) provides most com-
ponents of NWDI.
• NetWeaver Developer Studio provides a local Java development environment that
works closely with the central services of NWDI.
• Central services include components such as DTR (Design Time Repository), CBS
(Component Build Service), CMS (Change Management Service), and SLD (System
Landscape Directory).
• DTR helps in version management in a distributed Java development environment.
