Central Services of NWDI
SAP System Landscape Directory
The central idea of an SLD is to maintain the system information at one central location,
which can be accessed by all applications in the SAP landscape. SLD uses an object-orien-
ted model called CIM for SLD standard. Distributed Management Task Force (DMTG), loc-
ated at www.dmtf.org, is a nonprofit organization that develops standards in the IT industry
and has developed the CIM (Common Information Model). NWDI is linked to SLD so that
the landscape information can be accessed from one central location. SLD is used by other
SAP applications in the landscape as well.
SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio
SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio is a development and runtime environment installed on
the local developer PCs. It is based on the open-source product Eclipse. SAP has included
additional plug-ins and integration to the NW Java Application Server with the product so
that developers can create robust SAP Java applications.
