Change Request (Transport Request) and Task
The change request, or transport request, is a data package created by the system when
changes are performed in the development system. Several tasks can be assigned to one
change request number. All tasks should be released before releasing the change request.
Releasing (exporting) the change request will create a data file and control file at the operat-
ing system level resulting in transports. Change requests and transport requests can be used
interchangeably. The naming convention used to identify the change request or transport re-
quest is <SID>K9 followed by five digits. This number is generated by the system, and it
usually assigns the next number that is available to track the changes. Please note that the
creation of a new transport request number will only be noticed in the clients where auto-
matic recording of this is turned on. In Figure 11-2 , the change request number is
DEVK900032 and the task number is DEVK900033. First, the task should be released (ex-
ported) by selecting the task number and then clicking the truck icon. The change request
number is released by selecting the request and clicking the truck icon. When a change re-
quest is released (exported), the status changes from “modifiable” to “released.” Once a
change request is exported successfully, it writes the data to the common transport directory
and is ready to be imported to the target system.
