A well-planned research trip is one of the best possible introductions to South Korean life,
and should be seen as mandatory if you're seriously contemplating a move here. Topics or
the Internet can point the way, but it's just not possible to make any sound judgments about
the country without experiencing it firsthand.
It's obviously important to explore the city you'll call home, but tack on a few extra days
for leisure and exploration of some other parts of the country if possible, particularly histor-
ic towns like Gyeongju and Andong, which offer a much-needed glimpse into Korea's soul.
