In-Depth Information
are all excellent, and it has also got a well-deserved reputation for fine produce, fresh sea-
food, and the warmest weather in the country. With so much development planned for the
Seogwipo area, much of it specifically designed to attract foreign money and talent, it's also
a place that bears watching, since some of its infrastructure shortcomings may well be ad-
dressed over the next few years.
The selection of housing available in Seogwipo is relatively limited; there are just a few
recently built apartment complexes and villas, and stand-alone homes are rarely advertised,
though it always pays to check with local real estate agents. Those apartments that are on
the market are quite good value by South Korean standards; a typical jeonse deposit on a
two- to three-bedroom unit of around 100 square meters in a mid-range building like the
Gangcheon-dong Daelim Yeollim would be about 80 million won, and would rarely exceed
100 million won even in newer, flashier complexes. Prices to buy an apartment range about
100-150 million won.
