Domestic tourism has been the mainstay of Jeju's economy, but the island is seeing more
international visitors as well as foreign residents who come to work in areas like hospital-
ity or education, or simply to soak up the good life. The provincial government has made
a strong push in recent years to attract more expatriates and overseas investment, reserving
plots of land for international schools and apartment complexes and easing regulations on
taxation and foreign home ownership.
