SPEAKING KOREAN
Compared to their counterparts in some other parts of Asia, expats in South Korea have it
easy—there's only one national language to contend with, it's free of complicated tones,
and grammar rules in the spoken language are quite lax. While there are some vowel and
consonant combinations that are tricky for a non-Korean speaker to distinguish or get right,
virtually all sounds used in Korean also appear in English, and pronunciation is a fairly
straightforward affair.
