There are a few subcategories of housing you may run across in a property search. One of
the most common is the “officetel,” a hybrid of “office” and “hotel” that's rather oddly used
to describe modern apartment complexes typically in city centers that blend mainly studio-
type accommodations catering to young working professionals with a few floors of res-
taurants, shops, and commercial space. These are distinguished from apartment complexes
mainly by the small unit sizes and lack of grounds or outdoor space, but because they're
often new and in very convenient locations, rents are around the same or even higher.
