Using Living Fences to Control Runoff and to Establish a Vegetative Cover
An interesting approach to stabilizing slopes and help establishing a ground-
cover is the concept of a living fence. Fast growing bushes or trees that are
able to be duplicated by stakes or, are planted close to each other in a row
along to the contour. They serve two purposes:
1. Initially they support a silt fence;
2. After rooting they develop into a fi rm vegetation belt.
