SILVER
Silver, like gold, is a rare and noble metal. It is the most chemically active of the
noble metals, is harder than gold but softer than copper. Silver occurs in the metallic
state, commonly associated with gold, copper, lead, and zinc. The beauty, weight
and lack of corrosion made silver valuable, and hence one of the earliest of metals
to be used as a medium of exchange. Today, demand for silver is built on three main
pillars - industrial uses, photography, and jewellery and silverware. Silver is the best
electric conductor of all metals; it can also achieve the most brilliant polish of any metal.
