COPPER
Copper, along with gold the first metal known to man-kind, was a highly significant
metal in ancient civilizations as the first tools, implements and weapons were made from
copper. Of all the materials mined, copper is the most versatile and durable - it
appears everywhere in our everyday lives. This miraculous metal has a number of unique
properties: beside being nonmagnetic, copper is conductive, ductile, malleable,
resistant, and biostatic. Copper's durability is legendary. A copper pipe installed 5,400
years ago to carry water to the pyramid of the Egyptian pharaoh Cheops
is still operational today. For good reason, copper has been called 'man's eternal metal.'
