whole of a derelict house, a short trek from the centre, A Grund is a fabulous party place
whereyoucancountonsomethinghappeningmostnightsoftheweek,withDJs,liveactsand

corvinteto.hu ; map . For some of the best night-time views of Budapest, head on up to the
inspired rooftop bar atop the Communist-era Corvin department store. A 30m-long bar keeps
happy folk going until the very early hours, while the floor below hosts DJs and the occa-
sional band. You take a lift on the left-hand side of the building. Daily 6pm-6am.

the bottom of Ráday utca, scores top marks on all counts: it's a relaxed bar, has good food
(two-course lunch for 890Ft), and puts on excellent jazz on Wed and Sat. It's popular with
local students for its cheap breakfasts (coffee 210Ft) and you can lounge about on a terrace
at the back. As a bonus, it's attached to the Goethe Institute, which has a lively cultural pro-
