In the heart of the old Jew-
ish quarter, this popular restaurant has a very cultured feel - not least because the small
theatre at the back has performances and readings every night, including a Jewish evening
of music and food on Fridays. It has a big menu, including salads and sandwiches, along-
side Hungarian favourites such as goose leg with red cabbage and potatoes (2750Ft), and
on the soft drinks menu are elderflower and lavender lemonades. Lunch menu 950Ft.

Boho-
chic meets rustic simplicity in this superb and very popular basement restaurant. There's
an appealing thoughtfulness behind the place: guests are welcomed with elderflower cham-
pagne, and this and much of what you eat and drink is the proprietor's own produce. The en-
ticing seasonal menu is Hungarian with a twist, such as the roasted lamb with smoked cheese
polenta. It's a great place for families too - pencils and papers await on all tables and there's
a children's corner with books and toys. Mains 2000-4000Ft. Booking essential.
