right by the market hall behind the US Embassy. The small menu, displayed on blackboards,
is meat-dominated, and the grill is kept busy. You can get grilled duck, steak and sea bass, or

Lacipecsenye V, Sas utca 11 0670 370 7474, lacipecsenye.eu ; map . The sure-footed

its prime tourist location, right in front of the Bazilika. The focus at Lacipecsenye - “barbe-

go for 10,000Ft a metre). The menu has a strong Hungarian flavour, with favourites such
as bone marrow on toast and veal stew with noodles. Two-course lunch menu 2450Ft, tast-

established fixture on the Budapest dining scene, this split-level trattoria also rates highly
among the city's Italian community. The wood-burning oven turns out excellent pizzas from
1800Ft, and the pastas and risottos (2500-5000Ft) are also exceptional, although if you're
only here once, seek out the charcoal grill (3000-4500Ft). A surprisingly varied selection of
wines rounds things off beautifully. Daily noon-midnight.
