Mercure Museum VIII, Trefort utca 2 1 485 1080, mercure.com ; map . Having estab-
lished itself in an imaginatively transformed Pest apartment block on a quiet street behind
the National Museum, the Mercure has expanded into the next-door block. The newer half is
sleek and modern in design, but the older, Italian-flavoured part has more appeal, set around
a glass-roofed courtyard. The rooms, which have a mix of baths and showers, aren't big, but
it's a friendly place and in a good location. There's a smal l Wellness centre in the basement
