ARRIVAL AND INFORMATION: VÁC
By train There are regular services from Nyugati Station to Vác - the zonázó trains are the
faster ones. From the train station, at the northern end of Széchenyi utca, it's a 10min walk
down to Március 15 tér.
By bus Buses go from Ujpest Városkapu bus station in Budapest every half-hour and take
55min. They arrive at Szent István tér, a few minutes closer to the main square than the train
station.
Byferry The boat leaves Budapest's Vigadó tér at 9am (May-Aug Tues-Sun, Sept Sat only;
1500Ft; mahartpassnave.hu ) and takes two hours to make the journey upriver (the return is
at 6.30pm and takes 1hr 30min back down to Budapest). Disembarking at the landing stage
for ferries from Budapest, you can see the prison and triumphal arch to the north; head south
along the promenade and the town centre is on the left.
Tourist office The helpful Tourinform, at Március 15 tér 17 (Mon-Fri 9am-5pm, Sat & Sun
10am-noon; 27 316 160, tourinformvac.hu ), has all the information you need.

Gödöllő
The small town of Gödöllő boasts a former Habsburg summer palace and a famous artists'
