In-Depth Information
ARRIVAL AND INFORMATION: ESZTERGOM
Bytrain The train station is 1km south of town and linked to the centre by bus #1 and #5, or
it's a 15min walk.
By bus Buses run from Budapest's Újpest Városkapu terminal via Szentendre and Visegrád
(#880 hourly from stand 7; 2hr) or from the Árpád híd terminal via Dorog, west of the Pilis
Hills (#800 every 30min from stand 6; 1hr 15min), a less scenic but faster route (both routes
cost 950Ft). Arriving from Visegrád, get off near Basilica Hill rather than riding on to the bus
station in the south of town.
By boat The boat leaves Budapest's Vigadó tér at 9am and takes five hours (May-Aug
Tues-Sun, Sept Sat only; 2500Ft; mahartpassnave.hu ); it returns at 4.30pm, taking 3hr
30min to get back downriver.
By hydrofoil The 9.30am hydrofoil (May-Sept Sat & Sun; 5000ft; 1hr 30min; mahart-
passnave.hu ) from Budapest ties up at Prímás-sziget, a 15min walk from the centre.
Information There is no tourist office in the town, but you can get information inside the
Prímás Pince on Szent István tér (Mon-Sat 10am-10pm, Sun 10am-5pm; 33 541 965).
