ARRIVAL AND INFORMATION: VISEGRÁD
By bus
Bus #880 leaves from stand 7 at Budapest's Újpest Városkapu terminal (every hour;
1hr 25min) and stops at various points along the main road between the town and the river,
including in front of the tourist office and by the local ferry stop (at the bottom of Rév utca),
before running on to Esztergom.
Byboat
Given the majestic scenery of the Danube Bend, arriving by river is far more scenic.
The boat leaves Budapest's Vigadó tér at 10am and Batthyány tér at 10.10am (May-Sept
Tues-Sun; 3hr 30min; 3000Ft; 1 484 4013, mahartpassnave) and docks by the pier at the
end of Rév utca.
By hydrofoil
A much quicker way (just one hour) is the hydrofoil, which leaves Vigadó tér
at 9.30am (May-Sept Sat & Sun; 4000Ft). The landing stage is by the highway, just below
Solomon's Tower.
Information
The excellent local tourist office is located along the main road, in front of the
Royal Palace (May-Oct daily 9am-7pm; Nov-Feb Tues-Sat 10am-4pm); this is by far the
best place to go for any information on sightseeing on the Danube Bend.

centre of Visegrád does hearty, traditional Hungarian and German dishes at very affordable
prices (mains 1700Ft), and also has a sunny beer garden.

A medieval-themed restaurant mainly frequented by
coach parties, where diners can feast on the likes of venison in red wine (3500Ft) served in
ceramic bowls while wearing a cardboard crown and being serenaded by a lute-player.
