sixteenth-century Veli Bej Baths , the oldest and largest of the city's Ottoman spa houses.
After a lengthy restoration project, the Veli Bej have been restored to something like their
former majesty, featuring a superb central cupola surrounded by four smaller domed pools,
in addition to steam chambers, saunas and jacuzzis. Next door is the CsászárKomjádiPool ,
thevenueforthefirstEuropeanswimming andwaterpolochampionships in1926,andwhich
today is still a training pool for Hungary's world-class water polo players.
