The crustaceans are kept in a cage underwater, until they are summoned to the grill.
Diners sit on a terrace under a straw roof, at rough-hewn wooden tables that feature
a view of the water. If you go for lunch, you can tie in a visit with a snorkel trip. At
night, this is the most popular place on the island for a sundowner. Other standard
dishes appear on the menu, but we've never known a guest to order anything but
lobster for a main course.

Neptune's Treasure
INTERNATIONAL Set near its own 24-slip marina,
near the southern tip of the island in the same cluster of buildings that includes the
high-priced Anegada Reef Hotel, this funky bar and restaurant usually hosts a mix of
yacht owners and local residents. The spacious indoor dining area features a bar and
lots of nautical memorabilia. The drink of choice is a Dark and Stormy, composed of
ginger beer and rum. The Soares family serves platters of swordfish, lobster, fish
fingers, chicken, steaks, and ribs; dispenses information about local snorkeling sites;
and maintains order in something approaching a (low-key) party atmosphere.
The restaurant also offers nine simple bedrooms with air-conditioning. Depending
on the season, rooms (with a private bathroom) rent for $129 to $371 per double.
Discounts are offered for stays of a week or more.

PETER ISLAND
Half of this island, boasting a good marina and docking facilities, is devoted to the
yacht club. The other part is deserted. A gorgeous beach is found at palm-fringed
Deadman's Bay, which faces the Atlantic but is protected by a reef. All goods and
services are at the one resort (see below).
The island is so sparsely populated that except for an occasional mason at work,
about the only company you'll encounter will be an iguana or a feral cat whose ances-
tors were abandoned generations ago by shippers (the cats are said to have virtually
eliminated the island's rodent population).

departs Tortola from the pier at Trellis Bay, near the airport. Other boats depart six or
seven times a day from Baugher's Bay in Road Town, on Tortola. Passengers must
notify the hotel 2 weeks before their arrival so transportation can be arranged.

Peter Island Resort
This 720-hectare (1,779-acre) tropical island is
solely dedicated to Peter Island Resort guests and to yacht owners who moor their
crafts here. The island's tropical gardens and hillside are bordered by five gorgeous
private beaches, including Deadman's Beach (in spite of its name, it's often voted one
of the world's most romantic beaches).
