VERY EXPENSIVE
Biras Creek Resort Stay at this sophisticated, relaxing hideaway if you
want to retreat from the world. You can reach the resort only by boat. This private,
romantic property is the classiest place on the island. Biras Creek stands at the north-
ern end of Virgin Gorda on a 60-hectare (148-acre) estate with its own marina, and
occupies a narrow neck of land flanked by the sea on three sides. All the attractive,
tropically decorated units, all suites, have well-furnished bedrooms, private patios,
and garden showers. There are no TVs in the rooms, but who needs TV when you
have the luxury of an oceanview veranda? Guests get their own bikes for their stay,
and there are lots of hiking trails near the property. The fitness center and restaurant
have also received upgrades, as well as the available watersports equipment. The
resort now has several Boston Whalers boats free for guests to take for 2-hour snor-
keling trips to remote coves and beaches nearby.
The hotel restaurant (p. 230) is a longtime favorite, and the open-air bar is quietly
elegant. There's always a table with a view. The food has won high praise, and the
wine list is excellent. A barbecued lunch is served on the beach.

Bitter End Yacht Club This place is the liveliest of the B.V.I.
resorts, and is even better equipped than the more exclusive Biras Creek. It's the
best sailing and diving complex in the British chain, opening onto an unspoiled,
secluded deepwater harbor, accessible only by boat. Guests have unlimited use of
the resort's million-dollar fleet and a complimentary introductory course at the
Nick Trotter Sailing and Windsurfing School. The Bitter End has informal yet
elegant accommodations in either a hillside chalet or a well-appointed beachfront
or hillside villa overlooking the sound. All villas have two twins, two queen-size, or
a king-size bed, plus a shower with sea views and a patio or veranda.
For something novel, stay aboard a 30-foot yacht, yours to sail, complete with dock-
age and daily maid service, meals in the Yacht Club dining room, and overnight provi-
sions. Each yacht has a shower and can comfortably accommodate four.
First-rate meals are available in the Clubhouse Steak and Seafood Grille, the Eng-
lish Carvery, and the Pub, and entertainment is provided by a steel-drum or reggae
band.
