territory. The open-air restaurant is set on the beach, amid a cluster of palm trees.

Mongoose Apartments An easy stroll of 3 minutes through a coconut palm
grove will bring you to Cane Garden Bay, the island's best beach, where you can
engage in watersports ranging from kayaking to windsurfing. Elroy and Sandra Hen-
ley, your hosts, are on hand to help you enjoy your vacation, arranging car rentals,
deep-sea fishing excursions, island tours, or day sails to other islands. The reasonably
priced accommodations are housed in a U-shaped, two-story building; some have an
ocean view. Each of the one-bedroom apartments, although simply furnished, has a
living room with a twin sleeper couch, kitchen, balcony, and ceiling fan. You'll have
to rely on the office phone, as there are no phones in the rooms. Sandra grows medici-
nal teas, which guests are invited to try. There is a minimum stay of 3 nights.

Myett's In lush tropical foliage, this very small Caribbean inn opens onto the
island's most romantic beach. Unlike some of the remote, tranquil inns recom-
mended, Myett's stands in a beachfront garden right near the nightlife of Cane Gar-
den Bay, the most happening place on the island when the sun goes down (not to
mention one of the best places for swimming). The spacious bedrooms have air-
conditioning, tropical decor, and a king-size bed. Extras include a small fridge and wet
bar. There's no need to chance the hazardous roads of Tortola at night; you can stay
right on the grounds, enjoying dinner or happy hour at Myett's Garden & Grille, offer-
ing a tasty Caribbean cuisine in a lush tropical-garden setting. Try the fresh lobster
or the catch of the day along with more routine offerings such as shrimp, steak, and
vegetarian dishes. Good music and live entertainment are presented on weekends.
Ask the bartender to make you a “Sex in the Jungle,” but don't bother to ask what's in it.

Nanny Cay Marina and Hotel Don't expect the spit and polish of a resort cater-
ing to the conventional trade. The place is artfully raffish, which seems to be the way
its boating clientele here want to keep it. The resort sprawls over 10 hectares (25
acres) of steamy flatlands, adjacent to a saltwater inlet that's favored because of the
protection it offers boats during storms and hurricanes. Few other resorts cater as
aggressively to yacht owners as Nanny Cay, a sprawling, somewhat disorganized com-
plex where great wealth (in the form of hyperexpensive yachts) lies cheek by jowl with
