Chenay Bay Beach Resort
These West Indian-style cottages are nestled
on a lushly landscaped hillside overlooking 1 mile of white, soft, sandy beach. Next to
a natural preserve, it was once a sugar plantation. The resort can serve as a venue for
a romantic getaway, a honeymoon, or even a family vacation. Home to one of the
island's finest beaches for swimming, snorkeling, and windsurfing, Chenay Bay is just
3 miles east of Christiansted and is a terrific choice for families thanks to the spacious
cottages and the children's programs. With a quiet and barefoot-casual ambience, each
cottage contains a fully equipped kitchenette and bathroom. The 20 original cottages
are smaller and more weathered than the modern duplexes numbered 21 to 50.
Accommodations are medium in size, with firm mattresses resting on comfortable
beds. Most bathrooms are compact but with adequate shelf space and tubs.

The Palms at Pelican Cove
At ocean's edge, this family-oriented resort
stands on 7 acres of beachfront property at a point 3 miles northwest of Chris-
tiansted. Its bedrooms are inviting in a Caribbean style with an upgraded decor.
Designed in a boxy, modern-looking series of rectangles, it has outcroppings of
exposed natural stone, striking a balance between seclusion and accessibility. Long
Reef lies less than 100 feet offshore from the resort's sandy beachfront. The spacious
guest rooms have a private balcony or patio with ocean views. Social life revolves
around an open-air lounge, bar, and restaurant with sea views (see The Palms,
p. 161). During the day, guests can be found limin' (chilling out) around the pool,
which is one of the largest on St. Croix.

Tamarind Reef Hotel
A sandy beach at the Tamarind Reef 's doorstep and good
snorkeling along the reef highlight this casual, low-rise property. The resort exudes a
